1. How much budget do you want to invest in this game?
2. How much time do you want to invest in this game? Time is money and we all have 24 hours a day.
3. Which gaming content do you enjoy the most? Is it arena/fleet arena? Is it Territory battle? Is it Grand Arena Championship? Is it Territory War? Is it Raid? Or is it other contents? Find your favorite contents and plan your resource accordingly so you don't get distracted or burned out.
When you find out answers for above questions, the next step is planning. We all do planning in our daily life. You need to be laser focus on which character or ship that you want to work on. My recommendation is focus on 2 characters/ships at a time. For example, if you are not spending and are competitive in arena, fleet arena and raids, my experience is you should be able to get 2 characters from gear 12 to gear 13 in 2 weeks. If you need to farm characters/ships, you can set up a goal like 3 shards a day and work toward it.
Playing this game is a marathon not a sprint. Even you are behind, you can always catch up. I have seen so many players took a break on this game and then came back to play. We all are Star Wars fan, that's why we play this game. The most important thing is you have to enjoy playing this game no matter what that reason is so you can keep playing and stay positive.
